چکیده

Lane-border detection is one of the best developed modules in vision-based driver assistance systems today. However, still there is a need to improve for challenging road and traffic situations, and also a need to design tools for quantitative performance evaluation. This paper discusses and refines a method to generate ground truth for lane markings from recorded video, applies two lane-detection methods to such video data, and illustrates then the proposed performance evaluation by comparing calculated ground truth with detected lane positions. This requires performance measures, and they are also proposed in this paper.

Automatic Performance Evaluation for Video Text Detection

In this paper, we propose an objective, comprehensive and difficulty-independent performance evaluation protocol for video text detection algorithms. The protocol includes a positive set and a negative set of indices at textbox level, which evaluate the detection quality in terms of both location accuracy and fragmentation of the detected textboxes. In the protocol, we assign a detection diffic...

Performance evaluation of road detection and following algorithms

We describe a methodology for evaluating algorithms to provide quantitative information about how well road detection and road following algorithms perform. The approach relies on generating a set of standard data sets annotated with ground truth. We evaluate the algorithms used to detect roads by comparing the output of the algorithms with ground truth, which we obtain by having humans annotat...

An Improved Objective Evaluation Measure for Border Detection in Dermoscopy Images

BACKGROUND Dermoscopy is one of the major imaging modalities used in the diagnosis of melanoma and other pigmented skin lesions. Owing to the difficulty and subjectivity of human interpretation, dermoscopy image analysis has become an important research area. One of the most important steps in dermoscopy image analysis is the automated detection of lesion borders. Although numerous methods have...

A superparticle filter for lane detection

We extend previously defined particle filters for lane detection by using a more general lane model supporting the use of two independent particle filters for detecting left and right lane borders separately, by combining multiple particles, traditionally used for identifying a winning particle in one image row, into one superparticle, and by using local linear regression for adjusting detected...

Lane Tracking with Omnidirectional Cameras: Algorithms and Evaluation

With a panoramic view of the scene, a single omnidirectional camera can monitor the 360-degree surround of the vehicle or monitor the interior and exterior of the vehicle at the same time. We investigate problems associated with integrating driver assistance functionalities that have been designed for rectilinear cameras with a single omnidirectional camera instead. Specifically, omnidirectiona...
